Yes, we are talking about Avengers: Secret Wars aka Avengers 6. This movie, which will be the Endgame equivalent for the new phases, is being mounted on a massive scale. We've heard a lot about it, and while much of it may seem too ambitious to be true, you never know. For instance, there have been reports suggesting that Spider-Man will play a key role and that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will have a significant part in the film. If that wasn’t exciting enough, a new rumor now suggests that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will unite with Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker in the film, which will assemble almost all of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Tobey Maguire and Hugh Jackman are both actors who made two of the most beloved Marvel characters iconic even before the Marvel Cinematic Universe existed. Now that they’ve made their comebacks to the MCU—Tobey in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hugh in Deadpool 3 as Wolverine—it’s clear the studio won’t let them go easily. Yes, you read that right. According to Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus, Marvel executives are doing everything in their power to unite Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. However, they want this union to be substantial, creating more storytelling opportunities for the future, not just a one-off moment.

"Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is probably going to be every Marvel fan’s fantasy going into Secret Wars. I know that they’re doing everything in their power to make this interaction and more legacy character interactions a reality, but it has to be something meaningful, like when we saw the Resistance in Deadpool and Wolverine, not just some throwaway sequence meant to be a one-and-done,” Perez said.

Is Ghost Rider in the Mix Too?

Alex Perez clarified that these interactions and potential team-ups are still just ideas being discussed in brainstorming sessions. The chances of all of this happening in Avengers: Secret Wars are minimal. However, when a fan asked Perez if Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Nicolas Cage’s Ghost Rider would appear in Secret Wars, Perez replied, “It’s in discussions, but yes, the idea is to have them appear at the very least in Secret Wars."
