Director M Rajesh is all set to direct Atharvaa in his next film. According to latest reports, the director has roped him and actress Aditi Shankar for his film which is said to be an out-and-out entertainer. The untitled project is about a family and is a romantic film that will be produced by P Ranganathan of Sri Vaari Films.
M Rajesh recently revealed that although his film is billed as a family entertainer, it carries an "important social message". “The film is a regular entertainer and will revolve around various stages of a relationship. Although this film is as entertaining as my other films, it will have an important social message,” the director revealed.
Rajesh also revealed that the film’s story will resonate with today’s youth. Going by these details, will this be another cliched romantic family drama that we have seen many times before? Only time will tell.
Speaking more about the casting, the director revealed that he has wanted to cast Atharvaa in a rom-com for a very long time. “Atharava has been doing several serious roles lately. Hence, I wanted to cast him in a rom-com film in which he would play a boy next door,” Rajesh revealed.
Aditi Shankar, the daughter of director S Shankar, has also been cast in Rajesh's film. This is her fourth film as an actor and she plays Atharvaa's love interest. Rajesh revealed that Aditi’s "hyperactive personality" and her performances in other films prompted him to cast her in this film.
“Aditi is full of positive energy and I found that trait would suit her character in the film. Additionally, I wanted a Tamil-speaking female lead for the role, as the film is set in Chennai. There's also a lot of Tamil improvisation that would be required on set, so someone who knows the language is easier to work with,” the director revealed.
