The audio launch of Jailer was a star-studded affair that was marked by several high-voltage performances and heartfelt moments as the guests expressed their deep admiration and affection for Superstar Rajinikanth.
The event centred around Rajinikanth as everyone paid an ode to his rich cinematic legacy. And Rajinikanth responded to all the love with the same enthusiasm by giving a speech that spanned over 40 minutes. During his speech, he covered a lot of aspects of his life, including his failings, hard-learned lessons and the exact moment the passion to become an actor took root in him.
One of the high moments included when Ramya Krishnan shared the stage with Rajinikanth. The duo had shared a crackling chemistry in the 1999 blockbuster Padayappa. Ramya essayed the role of Neelambari, who gets consumed by vengeance after Rajinikanth's Padayappa rejects her marriage proposal. The movie became a turning point in Ramya's career. And even after over two decades, her performance as Neelambari remains itched in the memory of Tamil movie fans.
And Ramya took the opportunity at the audio launch of Jailer to recreate a popular scene. She delivered the iconic punchline that Neelambari tells Padayappa when she meets him for the first time after nearly 20 years. "I have said this at every stage I went in the last 24 years. If I didn't say it in front of you today, it would be such a mistake," Ramya said before saying the popular punchline.
Rajinikanth stood in silence and watched as Ramya expressed her admiration for him.
Written and directed by Nelson, Jailer is getting ready to hit the screens early next month. And Ramya has also played a key role in the movie. The film also stars Shivarajkumar, Mohanlal, Tamannaah, Yogi Babu, Vasanth Ravi, Redin Kingsley, and Vinayakan. The movie is due in cinemas on August 10.
