Abhilash Thapliyal has been a radio jockey while he also explored acting as a career. The actor is best known for his performance as SK in TVF's Aspirants. As Aspirants 2 is about to release tomorrow (October 25), OTTplay caught up with Abhilash for an exclusive chat. In our conversation, the actor recalled how he received stereotypical roles before Aspirants happened to him in 2021.
Abhilash Thapliyal: 'I was always seen as hero ka dost'
Abhilash Thapliyal revealed the possible reason why he received similar kinds of roles by filmmakers and producers.
"I was always seen as hero ka dost (hero's friend)or the comical element, that would add fun because I am a radio guy, who is always fun. I was offered similar kinds of roles. In fact, even in my first film (Dil Juunglee), I was a hero ka dost (hero's friend), the fun guy who always cracks jokes. So, I have done that and I am happy with it. But this (Aspirants) made me believe that I can explore something more," Thapliyal told OTTplay.

For the unversed, Abhilash entered the world of films with Dil Juunglee. He played the role of Prashant in the movie, which also starred Taapsee Pannu and Saqib Saleem.
Three years after his Bollywood debut film, the actor essayed the role of SK in Aspirants and it turned the tables for him in the industry. A spin-off of his character, SK Sir Ki Class, was also released. Thapliyal went on to star in Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan, Taapsee's film Blurr, and the recent one being Sunny Leone's Kennedy. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the film premiered at Cannes earlier this year.
