Ashanti gifts beau Nelly his childhood dream car on 49th birthday in a most thoughtful gesture

American rapper Nelly’s birthday is on November 2, but he decided to make a Halloween bash out of it this year. On Halloween eve, the recently reunited couple had a costume party in Georgia to celebrate Nelly’s 49th birthday. The theme being ‘G.I. Moe,’ the couple was dressed up in matching black ensembles, with a military touch.

The party featured several celeb artists cum friends who performed to honor Nelly on his special day, like Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, Polow da Don, Rasheeda, and King George. While performing for her beau, Ashanti decided to surprise him with his childhood dream car a 1964 blue convertible Chevrolet Imphala. It was heartwarming to see a childlike, toothily grinning Nelly receive his surprise gift, even getting emotional at one point, for the extravagant gift was also a thoughtful one.

Fans are delighted to see the couple back together after a decade, since they last broke up in 2013. Previously they had been in an on-and-off relationship between 2003 to 2013. However, they had reunited onstage for Ja Rule and Fat Joe’s Verzuz battle in 2021 and had claimed them to be in a “better place” in an interview in 2022. Ever since, they had been spotted together multiple times.

It was in September 2023 that the couple decided to go public, with Nelly going for an interview on Boss Moves With Rasheeda, and Ashanti going to the 2023 VMAs. While Ashanti went to the award show with a handbag that showcased a photo of their first-time sharing numbers at the 2003 VMAs, Nelly was more vocal and direct.

He said, “Yeah, we cool again. I think it surprised both of us, though. It wasn’t anything that was, like, I don’t think planned. I think we both was pretty much doing what we do. But sometimes being separate, you understand one another more.”
