As Payal Rohatgi, Sangram Singh enter wedlock, here’s how Lock Upp played a role in the wrestler’s proposal

Lock Upp contestant and actress Payal Rohatgi and Arjuna awardee Sangram Singh will enter wedlock on Saturday after their wedding in Agra. The couple, who had began dating in 2011 and got engaged in 2014, waited almost eight years to finally decide to tie the knot and Kangana Ranaut’s show Lock Upp had a huge role leading to their decision.

In fact, it was in the reality show that Payal, who was the runner-up of its first edition, admitted that she wanted to marry the wrestler after being in a relationship with him for almost a dozen years. The show, which can be streamed on ALTBalaji and MX Player, kicked off in February and ended in April.

After Payal made the revelation, Sangram took to his Twitter page to clarify that both had intially planned their wedding date in March but got busy with work commitments. After that they had narrowed down a date closer to Sangram’s birthday on July 21.

While speaking to Bollywoodshaadis.com, he said that after Payal chose to go for the reality show and talked about getting married to him, the contestants started making fun of her and this led to a huge argument between the duo. That’s when he decided to propose to her.

Incidentally, their wedding venue Agra also holds a special place for the two as that’s where they first met. Payal’s car had broken down on the highway and Sangram’s car was passing through. As both the drivers knew each other, they helped out.

The two have been preparing for the wedding for the past few months. Sangram in a recent interview said that he believes he wouldn’t be able to find anyone better than Payal in his life and vice versa. The couple, who will have a reception in Mumbai, are also looking at Kashmir as their honeymoon spot.
