The preparations for Indian Idol Season 13 are on. The Kolkata leg of the audition will take place on July 17. The first runner-up of Season 12 Arunita Kanjilal will be selecting fresh talents from this year's Indian Idol aspirant. She is currently seen in Superstar Singer 2 as a captain. In a candid chat with OTTplay, the singer from Bengal talks about her last season experience and how it is influencing her singing career.
Talking about the upcoming Kolkata audition, Arunita said, “I am really looking forward to it. I have seen a lot of talented people in the show in the last season. I have a feeling that this season, we will get to see more talents.” The singer also elaborated on the points that she would keep in mind while selecting singers. “It is important that the singer has a perfect tune. If they have music in them, a lot more things can be taken care of. I will also see the nuances, emotion and passion of an aspirant.”
When she was asked about her own experience and learning from Indian Idol, Arunita said, “I think the primary job that the show did to me was to give me confidence. I am an introverted person by nature. After the show, I learnt to talk and face the stage. It also taught me to be confident in front of the camera. Also, the prolonged musical training for almost 10 months has made me a better singer,” she said.
Arunita started her musical training from her mother Sarbani Kanjilal. Later she travelled to Kolkata and then other places to learn music. “The Indian Idol stage gave me the exposure that I treasure. I love music. Ever since I became the first runner-up, I have focussed more on my music. I practice and try to find the music that touches me,” said the singer.
