Adipurush starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan and Sunny Singh has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. The film is receiving backlash for its VFX and dialogues. Reportedly, it is being made on a huge budget of Rs 500 crore. Critics and viewers alike have given Adipurush poor reviews. After receiving criticism, the filmmakers have stated that they will change portions of the dialogue.
Arun Govil, who played Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan television series in 1987, has now criticised the Adipurush makers. He slammed the director Om Raut and questioned the need to update the mythological tale.
Talking to ABP News, Arun Govil said, “Ramayana is a matter of faith for us and to tamper with its form in any way is unacceptable. Movie’s special effects are a different aspect, it’s about presenting the characters in the right way, which has to be considered with utmost seriousness. I don’t support this kind of language in Ramayana. I don’t understand what the makers thought of making this film. If the makers have made this film for children, then ask them, have they liked it?"
Govil further criticised the film's makers for altering the epic and called the Prabhas and Kriti Sanon starrer "Hollywood Ki Cartoon." He further questioned why there was a need to alter the plot of the film. He went on to say that perhaps the adjustments were made because the filmmakers lacked trust in Lord Ram and Sita.
The Om Raut directed film Adipurush is based on the epic Ramayana. Lord Ram and Sita, the major protagonists of the film, are portrayed by Prabhas and Kriti Sanon. On June 16, the mythical drama released around the globe in five different languages.
