We had earlier reported that the sequel to the 2015 Tamil film Demonte Colony, titled Demonte Colony 2 is in the making. Actor Arulnithi will be playing the lead role, with Ajay Gnanamuthu back to the director’s chair. Now, on Wednesday, the makers announced on social media the film’s release date.
Demonte Colony 2, the upcoming horror thriller film starring actor Arulnithi in the lead role, has finally got a release date. It is set to hit theatres on August 15 for the occasion of Independence Day.
It is to be noted that Demonte Colony 2 will be releasing alongside Vikram and Pa Ranjith’s Thangalaan, Prashanth-starrer Andhagan, and Keerthy Suresh’s Raghu Thata. For now, four Tamil films are set to compete at the box office to capitalise the festival weekend. It will be interesting to see different genres of films releasing on the same day to thrill the audience.
Written and directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu, the upcoming film stars Arulnithi, Priya Bhavanishankar, Antti Jaaskelainen, Tsering Dorjee, Arunpandian, Muthukumar, Meenakshi Govindarajan, Sarjano Khalid, Archana Ravichandran and others. It is produced by Bobby Balachandran, Vijayasubramanian, and RC Rajkumar. The technical crew consists of Harish Kannan cranking the camera and Kumaresh as the editor. Sam CS has scored the music for the film.

Demonte Colony is a horror thriller film, written and directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu in his first directorial. The film was released in 2015 and starred actor Arulnithi in the lead role, along with actors including Ramesh Thilak, Sananth, and Abishek Joseph George. It is to be noted that the film's title is derived from a neighbourhood in Chennai that is allegedly haunted. However, the film is not based on the area, but about three youngsters who visit a haunted bungalow and bring back a cursed necklace. Demonte Colony opened to positive response at the time of its release.
