As per the latest listing on Lionsgate Play, Arthur The King has now been added to the upcoming list. The Mark Wahlberg starrer will be releasing on the Lionsgate Play app. There is no release date attached to it, but looking at the nature of releases on the platform, the movie will hit the streaming platform in July. The movie was also distributed in many places by Lionsgate. Surprisingly, India is getting to watch the film on streaming much before the West. As per Forbes, the film is estimated to stream on the Starz app on September 11, 2024.

Directed by Simon Cellan Jones, Arthur the King is based on Swedish adventure racer Mikael Lindnord’s novel Arthur – The Dog Who Crossed the Jungle to Find a Home. Set over ten days and 435 miles that adventure racer Michael Light set out, he meets a scrappy street dog companion whom they call Arthur. Desperate to win, Light finds a sponsor to back him and a team of athletes consisting of Simu Liu, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Ali Suliman for the Adventure Racing World Championship in the Dominican Republic. As they strive hard to win, we see Arthur redefine the importance of bonding, humanity, and everything in between.
Talking to MovieFone about preparing for the role, Mark Wahlberg said, “The thing that prepared me the most was doing ‘Lone Survivor’ because, for something like adventure racing, it takes a different person. They just have a different makeup. It's all about suffering. It's about being able to endure mentally and physically. The level of suffering that they go through and the things that they put themselves through, you must be a special individual to be able to do that. So, I think tearing my meniscus on the first day of shooting put me in the headspace that I needed to be.”
