For those who enjoy films, Onam season promises to be an exciting time again because so many new releases are planned for this period. Even though a few much awaited ones were supposed to premiere during this year's Onam, some of them ultimately had to be postponed for unknown reasons. Nonetheless, during this festive season, movie buffs have a variety of films to pick from, and the anticipation for them is still high.

Cast: Tovino Thomas, Krithi Shetty, Aishwarya Rajesh, Basil Joseph and Surabhi Lakshmi
The major characters of the film are Maniyan, Kunjikelu, and Ajayan; they are all purportedly attempting to guard the biggest wealth in the region. For the first time in his career, Tovino will play three characters in the movie. Top of the list of Malayalam's upcoming, much awaited films for this year is this big-budget historical drama, which will release on September 13.

Cast: Antony Varghese, Raj B Shetty and Shabeer Kallarakkal
According to the teaser, the movie is set against the backdrop of a coastline village and centres on Manuel, a young man who returned from the Gulf but is now an alcoholic and leads a futile existence. It clearly shows that Kondal deals with an altercation between the protagonist and a group of strong men, which eventually escalates into a more serious confrontation.

Cast: Asif Ali, Aparna Balamurali, Vijayaraghavan and Jagadish
The story is set in Kallepathi, a monkey-inhabited area surrounded by deep jungle. Asif Ali and Vijayaraghavan play a father and son with a strained relationship. Aparna appears to be a curious young woman staying at their house. All in all, the teaser presents a few intriguing sequences featuring the main characters shrouded in mystery. Kishkindha Kaandam is set to hit the big screen on September 12.

Cast: Madhav Suresh, Lena, Antony Dinesh, Azeez Nedumangad and Major Ravi
Madhav Suresh plays Dennis, a young child who lives by the sea and is a member of the Kummati Boys gang, according to the film's trailer. It also demonstrates his opposition to individuals stealing the only source of money for the community. Lena is shown as an affectionate mother who has raised the four youngsters since they were small.
