The young director stated his dismay over this issue and the way the makers are going to address it in a conversation with OTTplay.
Jithin Laal says theatres must have been more cautious
Jithin said that since it was anticipated that some would partake in such activities, theatres ought to have been more watchful in this regard. The director, who is currently enjoying the enormous popularity of his historical fantasy film, said that he was both shocked and saddened to learn about the piracy incident after seeing the footage of a train passenger watching a theatrical copy of the film. "The film is the culmination of years of hard labour, so seeing the clip that my friend sent me was disappointing. I shared it on social media right away," he remarked.
As the audience has already given highly favorable reviews after seeing it in theatres, Jithin continued, he is not concerned if it will have an impact on box office collection because more shows were brought in across the state three days ago. "I used to think that those who had no access to certain films and lived outside of Kerala viewed pirated copies of films. But Ajayante Randam Moshanam was released all over the world, so accessibility is not a problem," he said.
He asserted that the makers are awaiting a report from the rightful authorities, who will obtain information regarding the location and time of the illicit copy's creation. "Legal actions will follow one another. Our goal is to visit theatres to further promote our movie and share our happiness over ARM's success with our audience and film enthusiasts across the world," Jithin stated.
Producer Listin Stephen files complaint to police
Listin Stephen, the movie's producer, announced that a police complaint would be sent in order to conduct an extensive probe. He posted a video of someone watching the pirated version of ARM on TV on Facebook. He made the point that piracy is destroying the Malayalam film and undermining the efforts of many individuals.
