As the adversary Danger Lanka in Rohit Shetty's Singham Again, Arjun Kapoor has ventured into the uncharted artistic ground, a deliberate break from his typical leading man portrayals. Anees Bazmee's 2005 No Entry sequel will feature the actor alongside Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh in his upcoming lineup. Long-form streaming content is another area he's looking into, but he's holding out for the perfect project.

Creating dynamic characters

Arjun praised the creative environment, telling Variety that it's a very artistic place to create a character, put it in the audience's domain, and then build from what they're reacting to. The character goes through changes and grows, just like real life. One encounters individuals at various points throughout their lives, contrasting their past selves with their present selves as a result of various situations.

The actor thinks about how the audience's behaviour and expectations have changed in the Indian film industry since the pandemic. There was a marked decline in home viewership prior to the pandemic, and an orbiting satellite powered it. People would sit down and watch the film whenever it aired on television. The availability of the film within four to six to eight weeks led multiplex audiences to become accustomed to watching it at home.

Evolving content strategy

A distinct divide in content strategy has emerged as a result of this development. Arjun said that people enjoy watching certain stories on platforms because they provide an intimate space. No one is going to go out of their way to watch a mediocre film. Whether they are looking for Hollywood, Hindi, or regional movies, they will find a wide variety to choose from.

The actor is optimistic about the future of theatrical and OTT releases, despite these developments. He finds the space in which they both exist to be fascinating. He claims that the relative efficacy of the two changes with the seasons and the ebb and flow of time. As actors and filmmakers, Arjun is hoping they can coexist and have mutually beneficial effects.
