Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor have a close bond due to their childhood friendship. At Barry John's institute, they even trained together with acting teacher Saurabh Sachdeva. In a recent interview with Galatta India, Arjun discussed his involvement in the short film Varun, admitting that he wasn't entirely satisfied with his performance. Additionally, he joked about how Karan Johar's Dharma Productions may have given him "less work" in the past due to his poor performance.

Arjun Kapoor's reflection on his performance in Varun Dhawan's short film

Somebody brought up the fact that Arjun and Varun were thinking about launching a production company together while they were talking. The Ishaqzaade actor responded by saying that Varun had essentially humiliated him. He assured Arjun that his part in the short film, which runs for seven minutes, is solid. Barry John was their acting class instructor back then. It was then that VD decided he wanted to be the film's director. Arjun thought about how badly Varun would do while he was the hero. Varun was directing when they began filming. Arjun thought he was the hero in the film—until he watched the cut and realised he was the antagonist. The actor found out about it after the shoot was over; VD didn't tell him anything beforehand.

"Woh dikhta hai innocent swaami type ka, but actually hai haraami type ka." (He may appear innocent and saintly, but his true nature is mischievous.) Arjun quipped in response to Varun's dialogue in Main Tera Hero. This is one of the few films where Varun wears a T-shirt; people can watch it on YouTube. Arjun expressed his lack of pride in the film, choosing to withhold the name.

Arjun further disclosed that Varun had shown Karan Johar that short film. He remarked, laughing, that he believed this was the reason Dharma Productions used to give him less work.

Arjun Kapoor's most recent film appearance was in Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty. The action thriller, which featured Tiger Shroff, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, and Ajay Devgn, had middling success at the box office. His upcoming film, Mere Husband Ki Biwi, starring Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh, will release in February 2025.
