Kadak Singh is Pankaj Tripathi's latest film, directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury. The film combines elements of a classic family drama with a whodunit, and it also features Sanjana Sanghi, Jaya Ahsan, Parvathy Thrivothu, and Paresh Pahuja, among others. Pankaj and Sanjana's (the father and daughter's) tumultuous relationship is the subject of Kadak Singh. Furthermore, a week before its premiere, Sandeep Reddy Vanga directed Animal, which also explored a tumultuous father-son connection.
Kadak Singh vs. Animal
Talking about the same, Pankaj remarked, "It didn't exist earlier" when asked about the current state of diversity in Indian cinema. He also shared that a broader definition of film has emerged with the advent of OTT. Doing all this sooner was an impossibility. Using a tone that is practically polar opposite to that of the north-south pole, Kadak Singh discusses the same link with his audience.
The upheaval in the film industry, according to the National Award winner, is due to the rise of OTT services and the demand for new types of content. Now is the perfect opportunity to make a film similar to Kadak Singh. It was impossible to do even a decade ago. Pankaj also added that OMG 2 seemed unthinkable even a decade ago. Talking about sexuality or sexual education in a movie is completely out of the question. "Ye kya hai?" would be the common response. He is doing it right now. He affirmed that, thus, the moment has come.
Rise of character artists
'Character artists' are also rising to become stars these days, which is another development. Pankaj is part of a new breed of performers who aren't your typical hero but are nevertheless well-respected for their work and enjoy widespread acclaim.
The actor said that he never imagined there would be memes about him. He also never imagined someone would imitate him in his lifetime, but then again, there were no memes back then. These days, there are five or six people who do it, some of whom he has already met. Pankaj takes it as a compliment because he came to Mumbai in search of financial success, and they are reaping the same rewards by mimicking his every move.
