Soon after the news began to surface that AR Rahman and Saira Banu have decided to mutually part ways, and end their 29 years of marriage with a divorce, the music maestro broke his silence on social media and penned a heartfelt post about the news. The duo's divorce news began to surface on the social media during the late hours of Tuesday, and was confirmed after Saira's lawyer Vandana Shah released an official statement regarding their decision of separation.
AR Rahman, whose music has been part of our lives, has separated from his wife of 29 years, Saira Banu. The couple decided to mutually end their marriage with a divorce, much to the shock of their fans. Choosing to break his silence over the matter, AR Rahman on X penned a post.
“We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter,” he wrote. AR Rahman ended his post with the hashtag #arrsairaabreakup.
During the late hours of Tuesday, Saira's lawyer's statement said that the couple decided to separate and the decision comes "after significant emotional strain in their relationship". It further said, "Mrs Saira emphasised that she has taken this decision out of pain and agony. Mrs Saira requests privacy and understanding from the public during this challenging time, as she navigates this difficult chapter in her life."
The couple share three children - Khatija, Raheema and Ameen. The family has requested privacy as they are going through a difficult phase in their lives.
