From adrenaline-pumping action to thought-provoking dramas, these five English-language films are setting Netflix ablaze this week.
The Equalizer 3
This Denzel Washington-starrer is the third sequel to the 2014 vigilante-action film. It tells a story about a Government assassin - Robert McCall, who is quite fond of serving justice on behalf of the oppressed. After retiring from his government service, he now lives in Italy. Oneday he finds out that his friends are threatened by some local mafia. Hence, without any hesitation, McCall gets ready to save them. Denzel Washington never fails to amaze with his tremendous action sequences.
Released last year, The Equalizer 3 has garnered 14.8 million views this week, and grabbed the top spot in Netflix’s chart.
Rebel Moon: Part One - A Child of Fire
This Sofia Boutella-starrer is the most loved project of director Zack Snyder. After planning for several years, in 2023 his dream came true finally. The movie made quite headlines last year, and Snyder left no stone to promote it wholeheartedly. It tells a story about a small colony far away that is in big trouble. A wicked ruler named Balisarius is sending his army to attack the villagers. So, they send a special girl named Kora, who has a miserable past, to find strong fighters from other planets to help them fight back.
After making a limited-theatre run, Rebel Moon was released on Netflix on December 21, 2023. It has currently grabbed the second spot with 11.1 million views this week.
Leave The World Behind
This thriller-drams is backed by Barack and Michelle Obama's Higher Ground Productions, and was released in December last year. Starring Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke, it shows a horrific incident, when a family goes on a vacation at Long Island. The beach trip gets cut short when two people arrive with scary news that the lights are out everywhere. Now, both families have to figure out how to stay safe if things get worse, all while dealing with how they feel about the world falling apart.
Despite releasing last year, Leave The World Behind has grabbed the third spot on Netflix with 7.9 million views this week.
Aquaman
This DC movie introduced Jason Momoa as a superhero for the first time. Released in 2018, Aquaman is currently the eighth most searched adventure movie on Google. It tells a story about Arthur, who's half man and half fish-person from Atlantis, needs to become king of the whole ocean kingdom. But there's trouble brewing! He has to stop a big fight between the people who live underwater and the folks on land before it's too late.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the sequel to the 2018 movie was released last year, and achieved massive appreciation from critics and audiences. The movie has garnered 7 million views this week.
Exodus: Gods and Kings
This Christian Bale-starrer was released in 2014. It tell a story about Moses, a powerful warrior, finds out that he's actually a Hebrew prince, not an Egyptian general. He decides to stand up to the mean king, Pharaoh Ramesses, and help his people escape slavery. But it's not easy! He faces lots of problems and Ramesses is definitely not happy about it.
The action-adventure has grabbed the fourth position in Netflix’s Global Top 10 list with 7.4 million views this week.
