A family man and king to half a billion people, Aquaman has a new threat on the horizon with Black Manta determined to destroy everything the former holds dear

It’s not easy holding a full-time job and being a family man, especially when you are responsible for the well-being of half a billion people, many of who do not like you. That’s exactly the predicament that Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry/Aquaman finds himself in five years after the events of the original film as King of Atlantis, when Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) threatens to wipe out anything and everything dear to him, as seen in the trailer of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which dropped moments ago. “One king will lead us all. #Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom - Only in theaters December 20,” read the official post of Warner Bros Studios.
Atlanna (Arthur’s mother, played by Nicole Kidman) warns that Manta, who is set on avenging his father, must be stopped or a global meltdown is imminent. But can Arthur ward off this danger by himself? Well, no, so he finds help in his former nemesis Orm (Patrick Wilson), who also happens to be his half brother and unite to save Atlantis from harm. But it will take one king to unite the seven kingdoms and fight off Manta’s black magic power. Is Arthur up for the job?

The trailer opens with Arthur talking about how he went from being jobless to holding forte as a father and as king to the people of Atlantis, to then having to free Orm from captivity to take on Black Manta, who is now wielding the powerful black trident. Amber Heard’s Mera is also seen in the trailer in a fleeting glimpse, and it remains to be seen how much screen time the actress eventually gets in the film, as her role was reportedly pared down massively following her very public and ugly legal showdown with Johnny Depp.
Directed by James Wan, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will release in theatres in India on December 21 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The film also stars Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Temuera Morrison, Jani Zhao, Dolph Lundgren, among others.
