Aquaman is back! After lots of speculation, the sequel finally came out on December 22. Jason Momoa reprised the role of Aquaman, just like in the first film from 2018. This sequel got a lot of attention throughout the year because of Amber Heard's lawsuit against Johnny Depp, as she played Aquaman’s friend Mera in the original one.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom kicked off its journey with $4.5 million in global ticket sales on December 22, but analysts remain cautious. The sequel's performance needs to be stellar to recover from the disappointments of The Flash, Blue Beetle, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which left DC facing significant financial challenges this year.

However, according to Sacnilk, the sequel has collected Rs. 4.47 crore from India within two days of release. Sacnilk is an Indian-based company, which collects information on films, series, and every other projects in various fields in India, and gives brief figures of the data.
The most shocking news that is making rounds on the internet currently is Jason Momoa's ending his contract with DC Extended Universe, although nothing officially announced yet. The 2018 Aquaman had collected $1.1 billion, and became DC’s billion-dollar film of all time, and Jason Momoa cemented his reputation as a superhero.
What did Peter Safran say?
Recently in an exclusive interview with The Independent, DC co-head Peter Safran spilled some beans about Aquaman, and stated that this sequel could potentially be Jason Momoa's final outing as Aquaman. Safran urged fans and audiences to support Momoa’s journey in the sequel.
“We will see what happens, but I really hope people will come and support his potentially last stand as Aquaman. What I hope is that people will really be here to support him on this journey. If it’s the end of the journey, fine. If it goes on, that’s also fine, but I think it has meant so much to him. The way [director] James [Wan] crafted this second film, it feels like a very complete story when you watch the two films together”, Peter Sarfan stated.
Peter Safran reveals new project with Jason Momoa
While DC's doors remain wide open for Jason Momoa, Warner Bros. is also eager to welcome him back for other projects. In fact, Safran also revealed that Momoa's next venture with the studio will be Minecraft, hinting at exciting possibilities beyond Atlantis.
