One has to certainly be living under a rock if they aren’t aware of the buzz that is present around Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom, aka Aquaman 2. A movie so surrounded by controversies throughout the making and post-production that the studio couldn’t find a window to release their trailer in advance. Now, as the buzz around it is getting a bit positive, here comes the second trailer that confirms many speculations about Arthur Curry’s son and the tragedy.

Aquaman 2, directed by James Wann, stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman; Amber Heard as Mera; Patrick Wilson as Orm; Nicole Kidman as Atlanna; and Yahya Abdul-Mateen ll as Black Manta. The movie takes forward the Atlantian Saga and now features Mera and Arthur’s son. Black Manta wants to break Arthur so he is hunting to destroy everything he loves.

The new Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom trailer arrived last night and has caused a stir on the internet. While the fandom is busy guessing where the sequel will be as dark as the comic storyline it is based on, let’s check out the five highlights from the trailer that have left us intrigued and excited for the release.

The Much Talked About Prince

As rumoured in the past, the trailer confirms that Aquaman 2 will feature Arthur Curry and Mera’s baby, popularly known as Aquababy. The trailer gives us a glimpse of Jason Momoa playing and talking to his infant son, and it is adorable. But the tragedy is yet to come. I am just warning you, so you are prepared.

Loved Ones In Danger

Black Manta is more evolved than ever in the new trailer of Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom . We can see Yahya Abdul-Mateen ll creating havoc for his enemy Arthur as he seeks revenge on him. He claims to end everything Aquaman loves, which means his entire family and loved ones are in danger. The rumours have even spoken about Nicole Kidman’s Atlanna’s life being in danger. Finger crossed.

Black Manta Summoning The Monster

Black Manta will do anything to defeat Arthur at this point, even if it means summoning a devil who can even claim his throne. Yes, you read that right. The new trailer gives us a tease into Black Manta’s plan to get help from a devil who wants him to free him from prison to use all his powers. We are already scared.

A Tragedy

“The key to this prison is the royal bloodline itself,” says Nicole Kidman’s Atlanna; in the very next scene, we see the devil. The tragedy that the internet has been speculating on for a while is the death of Aquababy. We know none of us can see that, but even the comics had Black Manta kill the baby. The last scene in the trailer is Aquaman running towards his house, which is on fire.

Mera’s Absence

The fact that Amber Heard has literally zero presence, even in the second trailer, has started to bother everyone now. We have heard many rumours about her role being chopped brutally, and Jason Momoa is trying to push her out of the movie. Still, the fact that even the makers have kept her away from all the promotional material is alarming.

Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom will hit the big screens on December 22, 2023. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more.
