Aparajito (The Undefeated), a tribute to iconic filmmaker Satyajit Ray from director Anil Dutta, will be exhibited at the famous Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in June.

Producer Firdausal Hasan told news agency PTI that the festival administration recently informed them of the movie’s selection for screening. Hasan said that to showcase Aparajito at TIFF, which is among the most coveted festivals, is a “big honour.”

Aparajito has Jeetu Kamal play Aparajito Roy and the difficulties he faced while creating his first movie Pather Padabali.

The film focuses on the “heroic struggle” of one of the world's finest filmmakers who “defied all odds” to make Pather Panchali, which introduced the world to Bengali cinema, Dutta had previously said. Dutta has previously worked on award-winning films like Bhooter Bhobisyot and Borunbabur Bondhu.

According to Sangbad Pratidin, Satyajit Ray had to face a lot of difficulties while filming Pather Panchali. There were no renowned heroes, heroines, or dance-songs and so many people were depending upon. Ray was having difficulties to even find a producer. Bijaya Roy, Satyajit Ray's wife, was always there by his side during the period. For a long time, people have been reading this narrative in numerous newspapers and periodicals. Now, it all seems to come alive in Dutta's film Aparajito.
