Apple TV released the first teaser of its upcoming Apple Original sci-fi series Invasion yesterday. The sci-fi drama, slated to premiere on Apple TV+ on October 22 this year is helmed by Simon Kinberg and David Weil. As per Apple, Invasion, which is set across multiple continents, follows an alien invasion through different perspectives around the world. The series features a star cast comprising Shamier Anderson, Golshifteh Farahani, Sam Neill, Firas Nassar and Shioli Kutsuna.
The series was ordered to be developed by Apple in 2019 while the filming of the sci-fi series wrapped up in March this year.
A part of Apple TV's attempt to scale up its sci-fi content, Invasion is the latest in the lineup of high-profile television shows for Kinberg. He has previously served as a creator, writer and executive producer on Paramount+’s The Twilight Zone, which was eventually cancelled earlier this year after two seasons. Kinberg previously executive produced Disney’s Star Wars Rebels, which he also co-created. On the film side, Kinberg has produced recent X-Men films such as The New Mutants, Dark Phoenix and Deadpool 2.
Invasion is penned and executive produced by Kinberg and Weil. Besides helming the project, Verbruggen will also serve as the executive producer. Audrey Chon, Amy Kaufman and Elisa Ellis serve as executive producers alongside Andrew Baldwin, who also writes the script. Katie O’Connell Marsh serves as executive producer on behalf of Boat Rocker Studios.
