Apple TV+ announces docuseries on legendary footballer Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi. A father. A 35-year-old. And a 2022 FIFA World Cup winner. He is a legend and is worshipped by his fans on a daily basis. But what makes Messi the man he is today? Unfurling this mystery and answering the unanswered questions is a documentary that will soon be aired on Apple TV+.

Giving details about the development, news portal Deadline reported: “A four-part docuseries about soccer superstar Lionel Messi, from Smuggler Entertainment’s Tim Pastore, Patrick Milling-Smith, Brian Carmody and Matt Renner, is heading to Apple TV+.”

The report also mentions that the name of the docuseries is yet to be decided. It also reveals that “the as-yet untitled series filmed in Paris, Qatar and Argentina, tracks the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner through his five FIFA World Cup appearances and his FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 win, one of the most exciting finals in history.”

“In his own words, Messi tells the definitive story of his career with the Argentina national football team, providing an intimate and unprecedented look at his quest for a legacy-defining World Cup victory,” the report adds.

The publication also adds that the docuseries will have conversations with Messi’s teammates, coaches, competitors, fans and football commentators.

Notably, Lionel Messi is the third most followed Instagram celebrity with over 468 million followers. The first position is bagged by Instagram itself followed by footballer Cristiano Ronaldo with 588 million followers.

Recently, news dropped that Lionel Messi will leave Paris St Germain at the end of the season. It was announced by confirmed PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi. With this news, PSG club lost over six million followers on Instagram.
