Anveshi Jain: When I did Martin, I had no idea I was a part of such a big film

Actress and social media influencer Anveshi Jain is set to make her Kannada film debut with Dhruva Sarja’s upcoming Martin. In Bengaluru for the film’s teaser launch, Anveshi said that while working on Martin it didn’t strike her just how huge a canvas it was being made on and presented as well. “A few weeks ago, when I watched Pathaan on the big screen, I was amazed at the scale and grandeur it was made at. But now, after seeing the teaser of Martin, I have to admit that I had no idea that I am a part of such a big film. I truly believe that this film will not only be a benchmark for Kannada cinema, but for all of Indian filmdom,” she said.

In the film, Anveshi is the one who is paired with the title character, although Dhruva has claimed that he’s not Martin. “I am Martin’s girlfriend, a gangster kind of character that I loved playing. This is a character that has a lot of style and charisma and gets to do a fair bit of action. I got to do a lot of scenes that I absolutely enjoyed, where, for instance, I am holding guns, or doing action, etc,” she says.

The actress, who made the transition from web series to cinema, adds that she’s been drawn to south Indian films as they are more “soulful”. She adds that the experience on the set of Martin was unforgettable for all the love and respect she received. “I think that helps an artiste perform better,” she reasons. As for her co-star, Dhruva, Anveshi says that she was pleasantly surprised by how simple and down-to-earth he is in real-life, which was vastly different from his onscreen appearance.

On a parting note, Anveshi said that she was immensely thankful to producer Uday K Mehta and director AP Arjun for the opportunity to be a part of the film. She added that Arjun Sarja also deserved a note of gratitude for his part in having her onboard, including writing her character.
