Anupamaa Written Update August 12, 2023: Anupamaa DIVIDES the Shah family into two halves! Deets here!

The day starts off with Anupamaa and Dimpy at loggerheads with each other, because the latter wants to stay separately with her husband Samar. After seeking the ‘visual permission’ of Bapuji, Baa and Vanraj Shah, Anupama takes an extremely bold step of dividing the Shah family and their household into two. Just as when Anupamaa does it, Dimpy seems extremely satisfied. That’s when Anupamaa clarifies that, she, on behalf of the entire Shah family, clarifies that, even though the house will be divided into two, the God’s altar will not be divided at all, as ‘Gods cannot be divided’.

In the same breath, Anupamaa also instructs that, neither Samar and Dimpy will be interfering in anyone’s family affairs from the Shah family, nor anyone from the Shah family will be interfering in the lives of Samar and Dimpy. Anupama, then, instructs that the kitchen will be divided.

Anupamaa, then, looks at Samar and tells him that, till date, he has eaten the food prepared by his mother (herself) and after that, the food cooked by Baa and that now, he should be eating the food that has been prepared by his wife Dimpy so that, she will also come to know the cost of the ‘aata-daal’. She also questions the norms that, why should always the parents bow down before the children (irrespective of how they are) and why should only they take the onus and the responsibility of keeping the family together and why can’t children do the same.

Her sentiments, thoughts and instructions are totally seconded by Babuji and Vanraj Shah. As a matter of fact, Vanraj also recalls the time when he had revolted against the family and wanted to stay alone and that’s when he realised the actual importance of the family and the family members.

In the same breath, Anupamaa also clarifies that, separation means separation and that there should be absolutely no compromise on that. She adds that, living separately also means that Samar and Dimpy should also start paying the phone bills, electricity bills, gas cylinder bills, water bills, groceries, vegetables, and even newspaper and laundry… totally separately. And, in case they are not able to manage this stuff by themselves, then, they should contribute towards the family expenses and even in case they are not able to manage that, they should pay for the stuff that they are using from the Shah family!
