Kaagaz 2 is around the corner, releasing on March 1, 2024. It is the last film of Satish Kaushik, done alongside Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Darshan Kumar and Smriti Kalra. In a recent interview, Anupam reminisced about the monumental impact his friend’s passing had on his birthday and the fact that his mother is still unaware of Kaushik’s demise. He recounted the series of memories in order for comprehension.
The birth and death connection between Satish Kaushik and Anupam Kher
Anupam Kher recounted how last year, on the night of his birthday on March 7, his mother advised him to invite Satish Kaushik and his daughter Vanshika over for birthday dinner. But Kher had declined. He had thought that he would invite his best friend properly for dinner on March 9 or 10, depending on convenience.
But Satish Kaushik passed away on March 8, and the occasion of his birthday changed the meaning forever for Anupam Kher. However, though Kher continues to struggle with this inner turmoil and pain involving the loss of his best friend as well as the chance to see him one last time, his mother, Dulari Kher, remains in the dark.
Anupam Kher explained that he did not have the heart to break the news to his mother. The reason Kher felt so was that his birth is now connected with Satish Kaushik’s death in an inexplicable way. He admitted that it is not like he will not celebrate, but it will never be the same again.
