Oh Meri Laila is a special film for Antony Varghese for several reasons. It has him teaming up with his college buddies and also had a schedule at his alma mater, Maharajas College. But that’s not all. If the latest poster of the film is any hint, it will also present the actor, who is mostly known for action-oriented roles, in a totally different avatar.

The latest poster of the film revealed Antony’s character along with his family at their house. It’s a sea-change from what the audience has usually seen of the actor in superhit films such as Angamaly Diaries, Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil and Ajagajantharam.

Oh Meri Laila, which is touted to be a romantic campus entertainer, is directed by Abhishek KS and will have the actor playing a college student. Debutant Anuraj OB has written the script of the film, which also has Shabareesh Varma, Althaf Salim, Senthil Krishna, Nandana Rajan, Shivagami and Sreeja Nair as part of the cast.

Antony, who was last seen in the direct-to-OTT release Innale Vare, has also completed shooting for Super Sharanya actor Vineeth Vasudevan’s directorial debut Poovan. The movie, which alaso has Maniyanpilla Raju, Vineeth Viswam, Varun Dara and Sajin Cherukayil, deals with a socially-relevant subject but is told through humour.

The actor, however, hasn’t completely let go of his ‘action’ ways as he is part of Tinu Pappachan’s upcoming thriller, which is currently being shot in North Kerala. The big budget film, which is scripted by Joy Mathew, also has Kunchacko Boban, Arjun Ashokan and Manoj KU playing central characters.

Antony will next begin shooting for debutant Nahas Hidayath’s action film RDX, which has him playing a character named Doney. Nahas and Antony were set to team up for a campus entertainer titled Aaravam and had even shot a few portions before the lockdown prompted the makers to put the project on the backburner for the time being.
