It’s surprising that most of the audience have been talking about Dulquer Salmaan’s King of Kotha and Nivin Pauly’s Ramachandra Boss & Co, when it comes to this year’s Onam releases in Malayalam. But debutant filmmaker Nahas Hidayath’s action-packed RDX: Robert Doney Xavier has as much potential as the two movies starring superstars to set the box office on fire. The latest poster hints the same.

The makers released an explosive poster featuring the three leads from the movie – Antony Varghese, Shane Nigam and Neeraj Madhav, as they flaunt their action poses against the backdrop of some Japanese tapestry that’s on flames. The poster reflects the mood of the film, which the director, in a previous interview with OTTplay, said he wanted to accomplish.

The movie, which will release on Onam, is scripted by Adarsh Sukumaran and Shabar Rasheed, is Nahas’ first feature film. He had previously done a few short films. Nahas said that when he had approached the movie’s producers, Weekend Blockbusters, he was clear that the wanted to rope in action directors Anbariv, who had choreographed the stunt scenes for blockbusters such as KGF: Chapter 2 and Vikram.

“As a beginner, when you pitch a big-budget actioner, few producers trust you to pull off the project. But producer Sophia (Paul) ma’am wanted a film that would present a theatrical experience and bring the audience to the cinemas, and that’s probably why they decided to back RDX, which is also a movie that would attract the young audience,” he said.

RDX, which is set in the 80s and well as the present era, also has Babu Antony, Lal, Mahima Nambiar, Aima Sebastian and Baiju Santosh as part of the cast. The film, which has six fight sequences, had been in the news after Shane Nigam had issues with the film’s team after he was reportedly not happy because his character didn’t receive the importance that a lead character demanded.
