Anne Hathaway recently told Women's Wear Daily that it makes her feel like she is doing something right in regards to her upcoming third Christopher Nolan film. The actor first appeared in a Nolan film, The Dark Knight Rises, playing the role of Catwoman. In the film Interstellar, she starred opposite Matthew McConaughey. The Oscar winner is joining a cast that includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, and Matt Damon in an untitled Nolan project.

Anne Hathaway's emotional connection to Chistopher Nolan's Universe

Hathaway told WWD that her feelings about her involvement in her third Nolan film are so complex that she struggles to articulate them. Her heart leaps with excitement at the thought... Acceptance into the universe of Christopher and Emma Nolan is among the most wonderful places one may find oneself, and she adores them. The actor never allowed herself to believe that it would happen because three seemed greedy, but getting offered twice was a big deal, and now I'm pretty emotional about it. For some reason, her efforts have been validated.

Earlier this year, Hathaway told Vanity Fair that Nolan saved her career when public opinion turned against her during her Les Misérables Oscar season. During this time, the actor was the target of widespread internet mockery; she recalled searching for herself on Google following her Oscar triumph and seeing the headline: "Why does everyone hate Anne Hathaway?"

Hathaway revealed to Vanity Fair that people's concerns about the negative perception of her online persona led to the rejection of her for roles. Nolan, who was an angel sent to her, didn't care about that and cast her in one of the most stunning roles of her career in a top-tier film.

Anne Hathaway reflects on Interstellar and its impact

Hathaway said of Nolan, who she mentioned about her character as Dr. Amelia Brand, a NASA scientist in Interstellar, that she doesn't know if he knew that he was backing her at the time, but it had that effect. Also, because of his support, her career didn't stall as it would have.

Hathaway elaborated on her Interstellar casting, telling WWD that the experience was vitalising, reviving, and encouraging, and it was just a gift in that moment. No matter where she was in her career, landing Interstellar has been a major accomplishment. As an actor and a human being, she could never have felt more secure and energised than the second she stepped foot in that universe.
