Anjaamai is set to hit big screens on June 7. The film will be competing at the box office with Weapon, starring actors Sathyaraj and Vasanth Ravi, and veteran actor Mohan’s comeback film Haraa. Anjaamai is touted to be a social drama that throws light on the education system in India. It will be the second release this year for Vidaarth after Devil, which hit theatres in February.
The trailer for Anjaamai was released by the makers recently. It opens with a stage play with a character saying how elections are nearing with subjects angry at the rulers. Vidaarth is shown as a theatre artist, and soon the trailer delves into the subject matter of how education has been made hard for students. We also see Rahman playing a lawyer, questioning the law about how the system of education has grown tough on students. The film is inspired by true incidents as we see headlines about NEET exams. Anjaamai seems to delve into the hardships of parents and students trying to get an education.
Touted to be a social drama based on true events, Anjaamai is about a young boy who aspires to be a doctor. While he gets unwavering support from his father, who serves as his pillar of strength, the system of education does not allow the boy to achieve his dreams. With bureaucracy, systematic obstacles and various other problems, the film follows the trials and tribulations of students in the country to pursue their passion.
