On November 14 this year, Subrata Roy, the founder of Sahara Group aka Sahara parivaar, took his last breath. After having been admitted in a Mumbai hospital, the 75-year-old architect of Sahara Group, passed away due to a cardiorespiratory arrest. Its now being rumoured that, Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor has been signed to play the leading man in the biopic based on late Subrata Roy.
As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, it has been reported that, Anil Kapoor is now all set to play the late Subrata Roy in his biopic titled ‘Saharasri’. Looking back, one may recall that, on June 10 this year (which happens to be Subrata Roy’s birthday), producers Sandeep Singh and Dr. Jayantilal Gada had made a grand announcement about their film ‘Saharasri’, which was to be a biopic on late Subrata Roy. The film’s director had been announced as Sudipto Sen.

They had even released a teaser on YouTube of the film. The film’s teaser showed a man in blazer with an Indian flag badge on his chest pocket and also on his tie, which happened to be the trademark of Subrata Roy. The man in the teaser is holding a cheque of a staggering amount of rupees twenty-five thousand crores, which had been issued in favour of the ‘People of India’. The film’s music is being composed by the Music Maestro A R Rahman and the lyrics of the film have been penned by Gulzar. The aforementioned news report also stated that, Anil Kapoor is yet to sign the dotted lines of the film, as he had certain reservations about the late Subrata Roy’s life, which are now being looked into.
As for Anil Kapoor, he is all geared up for the release of his most awaited film ‘Animal’, which stars Ranbir Kapoor in the leading role. The film will also see the presence of Rashmika Mandanna (as the film’s leading lady) along with Bobby Deol and Tripti Dimri in principal roles in the film. The film ‘Animal’, which is being directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is being readied for a December 1 relaese this year.
Besides ‘Animal’, Anil Kapoor will also be seen in an extremely important role in the film ‘Fighter’, which has Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone playing the leading pair. The film is being readied to be released on 25 January 2024.
