Anil Kapoor reveals the real reason of protection of his personality rights

Anil Kapoor has brought a petition before the Delhi High Court to defend his right to his individuality. Additionally, he has filed a lawsuit seeking a permanent injunction to prevent anybody from using his name, signature, appearance, voice, or any other attribute associated with him without his permission for personal or commercial advantage. The actor revealed the reason for preventing companies from using his name without permission after requesting protection for his personality rights.

After he filed the lawsuit, the Delhani High Court issued a ruling forbidding the misuse of his attributes. The actor from Jug Jugg Jeeyo finally gave his reasons for bringing the lawsuit. According to ANI, the actor claimed in a statement that he brought the lawsuit following many incidents of people abusing his personality traits.

Anil Kapoor on protecting his personality rights

The actor revealed that he had filed a suit in the Delhi High Court through his lawyer Ameet Naik for protection of his personality rights, including his name, image, likeness, voice, and other attributes of his personality against any misuse, including on digital media. 

The actor further said, “The court has after a detailed hearing granted an order acknowledging my personality rights and restraining all offenders from misusing my personality attributes including my name, image, likeness, voice, etc. without my permission in any manner including through artificial intelligence, deep fakes, GIFs. etc.”

He continued by saying that his personality is his life's work and he have worked hard to establish it. His objective was not to interfere with anyone's freedom of speech or to punish anyone. He is suing to safeguard his personality rights from being mistreated in any way, especially given the state of technology right now with its rapid advancements and technologies like artificial intelligence that are simple to abuse to the harm of their owners.
