After being in the news for not-so-great reasons earlier this week, Venkatesh Maha made a public appearance in the pre-release event of Disney+ Hotstar’s upcoming show Anger Tales, helmed by debutant Prabhala Tilak. The actor-filmmaker has been cast as Ranga, a crucial role in the anthology whose star-heavy lineup comprises Madonna Sebastian, Ravindra Vijay, Bindu Madhavi, Tharun Bhascker, Suhas, Phani Acharya and others.

In the event, Venkatesh Maha announced his next and confirmed Suhas would be essaying a crucial role in it. “When I worked with him in Uma Maheshwara Ugra Roopasya, I wanted him to have a hairstyle unique to Araku locals. While expressing slight apprehension initially, he went to a nearby barber shop and got it done in no time. He goes to any length to get the nuances of his role right.”

“There’s no town in Telugu states that’s not aware of Colour Photo and I can confirm Suhas is one actor who’ll become a family member among audiences soon. I’m sure Angry Tales has given him enough confidence to produce many memorable films that’ll be coming out of his own banner,” the Care of Kancharapalem director, who also starred in Ante Sundaraniki recently, said.

“I wasn’t sure how did the team of Anger Tales know I was taking up acting offers. They came to me even before the news of my roles in Stand Up Rahul and Ante Sundaraniki were announced. When Tilak offered me Ranga, I saw myself in him and didn’t come in the way of his vision during the shoot. Despite facing many practical difficulties, the team protected us from it,” Maha mentioned.

The filmmaker added that he’d watched only one other short from the anthology, Radha, featuring Bindu Madhavi and shared it would be hard for another segment to better it in Anger Tales. “Radha’s segment made me feel we’re no less than the West in terms of our ideation.” Anger Tales will be out Disney+ Hotstar on March 9.
