The Hindi remake of the acclaimed Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen cast Angad Bedi and Sanya Malhotra in March (2021). Suraj Venjaramoodu's character, a patriarchal husband who wants his wife to be obedient and confined to the kitchen, was to be played by the actor. The most recent news on the remake, however, is that Angad has withdrawn from it because of scheduling conflicts.

As per reports in Mid Day, if all had gone according to plan, the actor would have started shooting Arati Kadav's film in January. A source told the tabloid that Angad wanted to be in the movie, and it has a terrific script. He had also begun preparing for the part. But the dates didn't work with those of his upcoming, untitled love story starring Barkha Singh. The actor chose to honour his commitment to Jio Studios' production because he had already made it.

To keep the filming schedule for the remake of The Great Indian Kitchen on schedule, Kadav has cast a new face while Bedi is in Delhi filming the love story. The Malayalam version, in which Nimisha Sajayan played a newlywed, got a lot of praise for its feminist plot.

The Great Indian Kitchen, which Jeo Baby wrote and directed, was quietly released on OTT last year. But the movie went viral across the country not long after its release. The film depicts how generations of women toiled away their lives in the kitchen under patriarchy's tight watch. Jeo Baby uses the camera in a clever way to show how a newlywed woman in her husband's home is treated unfairly and is forced to do things she doesn't want to.

The Great Indian Kitchen is also being remade in Tamil. R Kannan directed the Tamil adaptation, which had Aishwarya Rajesh and Rahul Ravindran in the key roles.
