Actor Sathyaraj is all set to don the villain's mantle after a long time in his upcoming film, Angaaragan. The film features Sreepathy and Niya Sankarathil in the lead and is directed by Mohan Dachu, a former associate of Ram Gopal Varma. The rest of the star cast includes Appukutty, Angadi Three Mahesh, Reina Karad, Neha Rose, Guru Chandran and KCB Prasad. The film is all set to hit screens on September 1.

Sathyaraj said that Angaaragan brought back memories of Bahubali. Speaking at the film's press meet, Sathyaraj said, "Even before narrating the film’s script,  Sreepathy told me that he is the hero and I am the villain. It rekindled the memories of SS Rajamouli approaching me with the script of Baahubali. I was completely enthralled by the intensity of the script.”

The actor also spoke about the ongoing debate on the Superstar tag. He said, "When someone says, Superstar, it is Rajinikanth sir who comes to my mind. We shouldn’t change it. According to me, ‘Rajinikanth sir’ is the only superstar. Ezhisai Mannar, Makkal Thilagam, Nadigar Thilagam are the titles that are given to stars out of love and respect, and no one can replace them."

Sathyaraj also weighed in on the recent star debate. " Will anyone address Rajini sir as Makkal Thilagam or Kamal Haasan sir as Nadigar Thilagam because he played 10 roles in Dasavatharam. Similarly, every actor has their own title. It’s Superstar Rajinikanth, Ulaga Nayagan, Kamal Haasan, Thalapathy Vijay, Thala Ajith et al.”

It is to be noted that Sathyaraj recently lost his mother due to age-related illness. “Many have been asking me how I am able to attend this event despite my mother's demise a week ago. We have a culture of not stepping out of the house for 16 days after a loved one's demise. But my mother had called us all one day and said, “After my demise, my son shouldn’t be asked to perform any such rituals.” We follow the ideology of Thanthai Periyar and I am here today, because I am not confined to the rituals.
