Anek actor Ayushmann Khurrana says ‘every genre of cinema is important’

Ayushmann Khurrana, who is preparing for the launch of Anek, in a recent interview, explained the significance of social dramas like his upcoming movie and his newfound love for Malayalam cinema.

The actor explained the importance of “maintaining a balance” in the film industry. According to him, stars must undertake commercial films so that films like Article 15 and Anek can draw an audience.

According to ETines, the actor went on to describe how he gains confidence from successful films in order to take on issues that are more important to society and make films like Anek.

"You get courage from your commercially successful films to do films like Anek and Article 15. That balance is very important. Of course, you can’t view Anek through a commercial lens. This is not a 100 crore film. It’s an important film", Ayushmann says

Ayushmann also described his passion for Malayalam cinema and how he enjoys seeing various types of films. He went on to say how much he admires Fahadh Faasil, who does not make commercial films.

The actor believes that "every genre of cinema is important. You need to know more about your country than you know about world cinema. You need to know the people you are trying to connect with."

The actor goes on to say that creating good cinema can only happen after the filmmakers grasp what the audience wants to watch. To make their film successful with the audience, filmmakers must understand the culture.

At the end of the interview, the actor reveals that he misses music and also wants to write, produce, and sing songs for his fans.

Anek Ayushmann previously collaborated with Abhinav Sinha on Article 15. Following that, the actor will feature in Doctor G with Rakul Preet Singh and Shefali Shah.
