Director Vasanthabalan's upcoming film, Aneethi is gearing up to hit screens on July 21. The team recently met the press in Chennai and spoke about the film ahead of the release. And during the interaction Vanitha Vijayakumar, who plays the antagonist in the film, was all praise for Arjun Das, the lead actor.
Calling Arjun Das South India's Shah Rukh Khan, Vanitha said, "Arjun has an amazing screen presence in the film. I was watching the climax scenes on the monitor and I looked at the shot and was taken aback by Arjun Das's screen presence. It reminded me of Shah Rukh Khan in Darr. And I am not joking when I say this, because I really think he is South India's Shah Rukh Khan. He will go places."
She added," Arjun is one of the softest boys I have met in recent times. Anyone would fall in love with his voice. He has performed extremely well in the film. And imagine, I am Arjun Das's villain in the film!."
Vanitha stated that when she got the call from director Vasanthabalan, she didn't have to give it much thought about signing or not signing the film. "During the narration, Vasanthabalan sir stated that he believed that I could do justice to the role and it would suit me. I didn't want to know anything more, it was Vasanthabalan sir's film. He was so quiet on the sets that one would hardly feel his presence. He gave me a lot of freedom to perform the role, the way I wanted to."
As for Dushara Vijayan, the leading lady of the film, Vanitha said that many scenes had Dushara and she at loggerheads. "She would say something to the director after the shot and Vasanthabalan sir would add fuel to the fire by telling me that the slap wasn't hard enough."
She added, "I feel like I am looking at Jovita (Vanitha's daughter). It's only in the movies that she is seen in deglam and no make-up roles. One day, I saw her coming out of the caravan wearing her sunglasses and I was wondering who she was. She is a wonderful and sensitive shot."
