Andrew Garfield has admitted that he enjoyed lying about his appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and even kept it a secret from his co-star Emma Stone and Spider-Man director Marc Webb.
"Emma kept on texting me and she was like, ‘Are you in this new Spider-Man film? And I was like, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about.’ She was like, ‘Shut up and just tell me. And I was like, ‘Honestly, I don’t know.’ I kept it going even with her. It’s hilarious," the actor shared with the Happy. Sad. Confused podcast.
In a previous interview with The Wrap, the actor said that while he hated lying and is not a good liar, he convinced himself to view this "thrilling" process as a game.
It is no secret that Marvel Studios has always remained tight-lipped about its new projects. The studio has often refrained from commenting on any speculations circulating around the same and even encouraged the actors associated with the project to deny rumours.
Spider-Man: No Way Home also features an appearance by Tobey Maguire, who played the masked character in Sam Raimi's trilogy. Antagonists from previous films like Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin and Alfred Molina's Doc Ock are also part of No Way Home.
Led by Tom Holland and also starring Zendaya as MJ, the film has earned around $1.62 billion at the worldwide box office.
