Sequels are in fashion, and many of the recently announced films are proof. With Border, Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Dhoom, Gadar, and Drishyam getting sequels, it looks like another classic might follow suit—none other than Aamir Khan and Salman Khan's cult comedy Andaz Apna Apna. While neither of the two stars has confirmed this yet, Salman Khan, who is gearing up for the release of his much-anticipated actioner Sikandar, is positive about the idea.
Salman Khan, who is currently promoting his upcoming film starring Rashmika Mandanna, was asked if he had any upda tes about the sequel to his cult classic co-starring Aamir Khan, Andaz Apna Apna. When asked, Salman, in conversation with Zoom TV, shared, "I hope so. Inshallah. God willing."
This is not the first time that discussions about an Andaz Apna Apna sequel have made headlines. Earlier, when the director of the film, Rajkumar Santoshi, was asked if he was willing to make a sequel to his 1994 film, he shared that he wished to do so but couldn't keep the same name.
"When Andaz Apna Apna was released, its marketing and distribution were done very poorly. No one knew that the film was coming. We got a below-average opening. With the passage of years, the film got the title of a cult classic. People remembered every dialogue of the film, just like they remembered the dialogues of Mughal-e-Azam and Sholay," Rajkumar Santoshi told Times Now.
He further added, "The demand for the sequel of Andaz Apna Apna is very strong. If I don't make this film, someone else will, which I don't accept. I have ideas for two sequels."
Andaz Apna Apna stars Salman Khan and Aamir Khan as Amar and Prem. The movie revolves around the story of these two men who compete to marry the daughter of a millionaire. The film, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, also stars Shakti Kapoor as Crime Master Gogo and Paresh Rawal as Teja. The film's dialogues and rib-tickling comedy made it a cult classic. The movie was recently re-released in theatres.
