After creating a storm on the global level and also dominating at the leading awards, Anatomy of a Fall has made it to the OTT in India. Yes, the French legal drama is currently streaming on Prime Video after a long wait. Justine Triet directs the film, drawing from a screenplay she co-wrote with Arthur Harari. A few months ago, the film made its big-screen debut in India, and now it's available for viewing on the streaming giant.

A gripping legal drama

In Anatomy of a Fall, the death of a husband triggers suspicions of murder against a wife, presenting the main witness, the partially blind son of the couple, with a moral dilemma. The trial gradually transforms into an unpleasant psychological exploration of the depths of Sandra's (played by Sandra Hüller) and Samuel's (played by Samuel Theis) troubled relationship as well as an examination of the events behind his death.

Swann Arlaud, Milo Machado-Graner, Antoine Reinartz, Jehnny Beth, Saadia Bentaieb, Camille Rutherford, Anne Rotger, and Sophie Fillières feature in supporting roles in the film.

Global acclaim

Anatomy of a Fall made its world premiere at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on May 21, 2023, where it received nominations for the Queer Palm, the Palm Dog Award, and the Palme d'Or. On August 23, 2023, it was released in theatres in France by Le Pacte. The film was praised by critics and won six honours at the 49th César Awards, including Best Film.

Not only did the picture receive five nominations at the 96th Academy Awards—for Best Picture, Best Director (Triet), Best Actress (Hüller), and Best Original Screenplay—it also garnered considerable international praise. Justine Triet and Arthur Harari did end up winning Best Original Screenplay at the recently concluded Oscars, which delighted everyone as it was amid stiff competition with other hard-hitting films.
