While Bollywood actor John Abraham first expressed his wish of producing a Malayalam film way back in 2013 while he was shooting Madras Cafe in Kochi, the actor is finally seeing it through with an upcoming movie titled Mike.
The movie, directed by Vishnu Sivaprasad, has Thaneermathan Dinangal and Vaanku fame Anaswara Rajan and debutant Ranjith Sajeev playing the lead characters, according to reports.
Mike, which went on floors on Wednesday in Mysore, is scripted by Aashiq Akbar Ali, who had previously written Anson Paul’s Kala Viplavam Pranayam. Wayanad and Ernakulam are the other locations for the film, which is backed by JA Entertainments.
Apart from the youngsters, the movie also has Akshay Radhakrishnan, Jinu Joseph and Abhiram as part of the cast.
In 2013, John had sold the Malayalam rights of his debut production Vicky Donor to Dileep. However, the movie is yet to get its Malayalam remake. Most recently, the actor, whose father is a Malayali, had snapped up the Bollywood rights of Prithviraj Sukumaran and Biju Menon’s Ayyappanum Koshiyum.
After bagging its rights, the actor had tweeted, “At JA Entertainment, we are keen to bring such appealing stories to our audience. By doing what we do with dedication and focus, we hope to make a truly engaging film with this remake.”
The remake of Ayyappanum Koshiyum, which stars John Abraham and Arjun Kapoor as leads, is directed by Jagan Shakti, who had previously helmed Mission Mangal. The shoot of the movie is expected to begin by the end of this year.
