Amazon Prime Video is coming up with its first Telugu original, Ammu, a thriller starring Aishwarya Lekshmi, Naveen Chandra and Bobby Simha in the lead. The film, written and directed by Charukesh Sekar, is bankrolled by Kalyan Subramanian and Kaarthekeyen Santhanam under Stone Bench Films. Ahead of its release on the streamer on October 19, the trailer was launched today.

In the trailer, Ammu, played by Aishwarya, is introduced as a next-door-girl who marries her neighbour Ravi (Naveen Chandra). Ravi is a cop by profession and their marriage looks like a fairy tale initially until their relationship takes a turn for the worse. Ammu is now a helpless victim of domestic abuse and realises that her husband is a pale shadow of the man whom he’d proclaimed to be earlier.

Ravi takes Ammu for a ride. She finally decides that the vicious cycle has to end and her partner needs to be taught a lesson. She files a complaint against him but he still tries to control her, denying his violent behaviour. A man on the wrong side of law finally comes to the rescue of Ammu and she wrecks havoc in Ravi’s life. Who’ll have the last laugh here?

The journey of Ammu will leave the audiences thrilled and engaged with the drama, the writer-director Charukesh promises. “The lead actors have performed to the best of their capabilities and I am thankful to the team of Stone Bench for giving me this opportunity.” Jigarthanda filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj is the creative producer of the film.

Playing Ammu was challenging and emboldening at once, Aishwarya shared. Naveen Chandra and Simha thanked the team for offering them an opportunity to be a part of Ammu. Originally made in Telugu, Ammu can also be watched in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi on the release day. This is Stone Bench’s second project with Prime Video after Putham Pudhu Kaalai.
