With the festival of Diwali just around the corner, it’s a no brainer to say that most of the brands will ensure that they make the maximum out of this season. Be it in terms of tempting offers or offering huge discounts the brands will do anything and don’t mind walking that extra mile to woo their customers. A similar strategy was adopted by a leading e-commerce platform, in which they had the legendary Amitabh Bachchan as the model conveying the message that the said brand is offering huge discounts on almost all the FMCG brands.

What Amitabh Bachchan claimed in the ad

The said ad has Amitabh Bachchan saying that, the said brand of e-commerce platform are offering special deals on mobile phones which are not available at the retail stores. The said ‘claim’ has the smartphone retailers allegedly stating that these claims were misleading the buyers. As per a report in The Economic Times, it has been stated that AIMRA (The All India Mobile Retailers Association), which represents 150,000 mobile retailers, has now written a letter to the smartphone brands while addressing the issue.

AIMRA writes a letter to the said brand

The said letter stated that their purpose in addressing them was to express their deep concern and disappointment regarding the recent wave of derogatory advertisements that had been proliferating across various online platforms, social media, and print media. The letter added that these advertisements had been influencing the buying behaviour of customers through false and misleading statements like 'Yeh dukaan per nahin milne wala' (This will not be found in stores)

CAIT writes a letter to Amitabh Bachchan

The said news report also stated that CAIT (Confederation of All India Traders), a body that represents 80 million retailers, has now written a letter to Amitabh Bachchan, in which they have condemned the advertisement (claims). The CAIT had reportedly stated that they were highly disheartened to witness the recent advertisement, where they had claimed that deals and offers were not available at shopkeepers, which led to misleading and influencing the customers. While the e-commerce brand in question and Amitabh Bachchan are yet to react, the said video has been, however, made private on YouTube.
