The past few years, Amit Sadh has been going from strength to strength through his noteworthy performances in web series such as Breathe, Avrodh: The Siege Within as well as direct-to-OTT releases including Barot House and Shakuntala Devi.
The actor, whose first big break was through the TV series Kyun Hota Hai Pyarr 20 years ago, shot to national fame with his stint in the first season of Bigg Boss back in 2006. Amit, however, says that the show didn’t present him with happy memories.
In an interview with Indian Express, the Kai Po Che actor said he wasn’t aware of what the show was about when he had first signed up. Amit claims that he thought it would be about showcasing “physical strength”. A fortnight into the show, hosted by Salman Khan, the actor says he started getting bored with most of the contestants involved only in gossips.
Amit’s stint also had him getting into heated arguments with fellow Bigg Boss inmates. Talking about how he resisted physical altercations, the actor said, “I was told if I hit anyone, I will have to pay Rs 2 crore.” He said he wasn’t being paid such a huge sum to be part of the show, so thought it was unwise to get into fights.
That said, the actor recalled how during the New Year’s Eve of 2007, he was ready to escape from the island where the show’s sets were erected. “I wanted the makers to eliminate me,” said the 7 Kadam actor.
The day he was relegated from the show, Amit said he also made a promise that he would delete the reality show from his life and he is content he could follow up on that decision. The actor concluded by saying that he hasn’t watched the show since then.
