Canadian actor William Shatner’s historic trip to space is going to be documented in Amazon Studios’ upcoming special, Shatner in Space. The one hour special was announced by the star at a virtual comic convention event.

Amazon Prime Video also announced the same on their official Twitter handle, which featured a poster of the upcoming special. In the poster Shatner is seen seated in something resembling a spacecraft, donned in a blue spacesuit. In the craft’s window Shatner’s reflection takes the form of his iconic Captain James T. Kirk character from the Star Trek franchise.

Check out the post below:

On October 13 this year, Shatner had joined Chris Boshuizen, Glen de Vries, and Audrey Powers aboard Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin space capsule New Shepard NS-18. With the journey the 90 year old had become the oldest person ever to travel to space.

Shatner in Space will document the events before, during and in the aftermath of the historic journey. The special will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video on December 15 in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia and New Zealand. In 2022, the special will be available in additional territories.

In a statement Shatner had called the journey ‘the most profound experience’ he had ever had. He called the special a 'dramatic view’ of the same and hoped that it would help people know how important space exploration was to the future of the Earth.
