The latest buzz is that Amazon Prime Video has ordered the second season of its hit Tamil web series Suzhal. Created by Pushkar and Gayathri, the sequel reportedly will follow the aftermaths of the events of the first season.
According to reports, the pre-production work of the series is going on and the showrunners are also doing initial test shoots. An official confirmation on the same, however, is awaited. It's said that the showrunners have retained all the key characters from season one. However, more details are awaited.
Suzhal: The Vortex made its debut on Amazon Prime Video on June 17 last year to mixed reviews. Written by Pushkar and Gayathri, the eight-episode series was directed by Bramma G and Anucharan Murugaiyan. Set against the backdrop of a hill station, Suzhal follows the investigation into a twin murder that shooks the consciousness of the otherwise sleepy town.
The series begins with an investigation into a girl who goes missing without leaving a lot of clues. As the story unravels, the darkest secrets hidden in the hilltop community begin to come to light revealing the true nature of people. The whole investigation plays out against the backdrop of the village festival, adding a mythological heft to the modern-day investigative procedural. The festival also sets the theme and tone for each episode, infusing the series with a lot of colours.
The first season of Suzhal had some of the biggest names from the Tamil film industry, including R. Parthiban, Kathir, Aishwarya Rajesh and Sriya Reddy.
