The movie's protagonist is Raghu, who has been employed as a railway gatekeeper in a remote location. He finds Chaithali, who jumped off a train, at his level cross. They find, as they get to know one another, that they are more alike than one might think for a doctor who has experienced a challenging relationship and a man who has lived alone for years. But when Chaithali's husband becomes involved and shocking facts come to light, the three's relationship falls apart.
Positive reviews were given to the movie because of its gripping story and performances—particularly Asif's. Film enthusiasts found Level Cross particularly appealing due to its technical aspects. Even with the film's limited locations, Appu Prabhakar's shots heighten the suspense aspect for the audience. The OTTplay review says that if you like slow-burning psychological thrillers, you should definitely see the Arfaz Ayub film. Although the constrained setting may seem boring to many, the director makes up for it with a multitude of twists and amazing performances from Amala Paul and Asif Ali.
