Amazon Prime confirms premiere date of I Know What You Did Last Summer series

The TV series I Know What You Did Last Summer, the remake of the popular young adult horror-slasher of the same name has got an official premiere date on Amazon Prime. The title is based on the 1973 young adult novel by author Lois Duncan. The series will be released in October which makes it a just-in-time release for Halloween.

The upcoming remake was announced in 2019. It will have eight episodes.

The cast for the remake series was confirmed early this year. A new group of teens will be included in the plotline, and they will be seen taking on andbattling for survival against the killer. The events are set a year after a tragic accident after their graduation. The series has been billed as a ‘modern take’ on the classic film. The cast includes Madison Iseman, known For Annabelle Comes Home, Jumanji: The Next Level, Ezekiel Goodman, Sebastian Amoruso, Brianne Tju, Ashley Moore, Cassie Beck, Brooke Bloom, Fiona Rena and Bill Heck up until now.

The character descriptions are not known yet, but Iseman will probably play the lead role.

Shay Hatten, Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Erik Feig, James Wan from Atomic Monster, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett have executively produced the film. Craig Macneill will direct and executively produce the first episode of the series. Sara Goodman has adapted the story for the show from Duncan’s novel.

It’s been quite many years since the first I Know What You Did Last Summer was adapted for the big screen in 1997 by writer Kevin Williamson. The film featured Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr., and Ryan Philippe, catapulting them into some of the known teen faces of the decade.

The plot of the film centres on a group of teenagers who are stalked and hunted by a mysterious killer a year after the kids get involved in an accident on their graduation night.

The production for the series began in January in Hawaii.
