Seems like we're back in the times when it wasn’t just the movie that was anticipated, but the music album was something more in demand as some masters were at work shaping the said albums. While we're still busy obsessing over the songs Sakal Ban from Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar and Ishq Mitaye from Amar Singh Chamkila, Imtiaz Ali has decided to surprise us with the second track from the album of his much-awaited Netflix movie, and we're now spoilt with options as this Alka Yagnik track is as wild as AR Rahman’s musical mastery goes. The song is now available on YouTube and is an instantly catchy track.
The makers of Amar Singh Chamkila shared the news of the latest track from the movie with a teaser that teased Alka Yagnik’s involvement in the song. Soon we were all pumped up for the Tamasha reunion as the singer joined AR Rahman, Irshad Kamil, and Ali with whom she gave the soul-soothing Agar Tum Saath Ho. Turns out the makers have now released the song and it is as raw as it gets and a worthy soul sister to Katiya Karoon, a song from Imtiaz’s 2011 directorial Rockstar.
Titled Naram Kaalja, the latest Amar Singh Chamkila song is a homage to all the fans of Chamkila who heard his songs in secret because they were looked down upon. It talks of the women who admired his work and were in awe of his talent and celebrates them as they all celebrate the tunes that have made their secret world full of music.
With a list of singers involved and including some ace voices, the song is a raw piece of music with unpolished edges that is worthy of the landscape it represents. This makes it stand out and find an unique soul. Alka Yagnik is joined by the spectacular Richa Sharma, Pooja Tiwari, and Yashika Sikka.
Penned by Irshad Kamil and composed by Imtiaz Ali, the song is supremely catchy and will have a very high shelf life. Meanwhile, Amar Singh Chamkila is mostly a musical because the subject himself is the highest record-selling artist of his time. The film is said to have a long list of songs of which some are sung by Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra who are the lead actors in the movie.
Amar Singh Chamkila marks Imtiaz Ali’s return after almost half a decade, and the filmmaker chose a biopic to return. The movie is set for an exclusive Netflix release and will hit the platform on April 12, 2024. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more information on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
