Amar Singh Chamkila OTT release date - Here's when to stream Imtiaz Ali's cinematic tribute to Punjab's rockstar on Netflix

Imtiaz Ali's upcoming film Amar Singh Chamkila has been making headlines since it was announced. However, apart from the behind-the-scenes posters, the makers did not release anything big from the film. Starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra, the film is based on the real-life story of the late Amar Singh Chamkila (Diljit), a well-known Punjabi musician and his wife Amarjot Kaur (Parineeti). Today, the makers finally revealed the release date of the film, which is April 12.

The makers released a teaser on their official social media account which has a voiceover by Diljit saying, "Log kya sunna chahte hai? Unhe kis cheez me maza aata hai?’ he further says ‘wo main kar sakta hoon." We also get to watch a preview of the film's title in the teaser video. In the video, it is revealed that Amar Singh Chamkila will be available for streaming on Netflix from April 12, 2024.

The video was captioned as, “Maahaul bann jaata tha jab vo chedta tha saaz, kuch aisa hi tha Chamkila ka Andaaz @imtiazaliofficial’s #AmarSinghChamkila arriving on 12 April, only on Netflix!”

A few months ago, Parineeti wished Diljit on his birthday with a BTS picture from the movie. In the poster, Diljit's character is seen sporting short hair and wearing an off-white traditional attire. In his hand, he holds his musical instrument with a smile on his face. Parineeti, on the other hand, can be seen wearing a black and white check kurta with a black sweater. Sharing this picture she wrote, “Mera yaara, mera pyaara, mera CHAMKILA! Happpy bday ji .. Wish you happiness and good health forever. I miss us singing together! And I cannot wait to show the world what we have created in #Chamkila. The MUSIC, the magic.”

Amar Singh Chamkila will unfold the story of Chamkila and his wife Amarjot Kaur, who was assassinated on March 8, 1988, along with other members of their musical gang. Chamkila was Punjab's top-selling artist during that period. The film will bring Parineeti Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh together on-screen for the first time.
